Suminagashi paper marbling in which sumi ink is suspended in water and printed onto washi paper is an ancient and beautiful practice with roots in 12th century Japan.

This kit, made by longtime Japanese-American trading company Yasutomo, contains all the essentials for suminagashi marbling: sumi ink, two small vessels for ink and soapy water, a storage box that doubles as a water tray, two sumi brushes, and 10 sheets of Hosho washi paper.

Clear instructions, with step-by-step photos, are included in the box.

A perfect gift for any artist, or a meditative little project for you 🙂

Ink and paper made in Japan; other components made in China.
